| 1. Becoming a member. |
It's very very difficult to become a member of desktopART group. No joke.
First of all, you have to be a digital artist, which means that you have to have some skills in digital art, at least basic ones. The desire of becoming a member of this mess is also needed.
Formally, if administrator accepts your first fragment ( read article 2 ), then you're automatically becoming a member of desktopART group.

| 2. Fragment's required properties. |
The standard dimensions of mosaic are 1280*960 pixels. Mosaic contains of 64 fragments. We're pretty sure that you're good at math. No? Ok, we keep no secrets; the fragment's dimensions are 160*120 pixels.
Here's an example of the fragment.
If mosaic has got some fragments placed on it already, then you can draw and fill in only those fragment-places that are marked with yellow color. If you see any author's name on the yellow fragment-place, than this fragment-place is already reserved ( read article 5) ) for him / her.

| 3. Sending the fragment. |
If you're going to become a member of desktopART group, then your first letter should be provided with the following information:
Subject: desktopart.ru: [mosaic title], [fragment position data]
Body:
[ your nickname ]
[ your e-mail ]
[ mosaic title ], [fragment position data]
[ fragment's description ]
In fragment's description you can write whatever you want. The only term here is that the description of your fragment should be short.
When you're sending your very first fragment use the template above please. This will help avoiding any mistakes and our staff will have a chance to upload your fragment as soon as it only possible.
[!] If your very first fragment was accepted by our staff, you will receive letter with the password for your new desktopART account, and you will automatically be subscribed to our newsletter.

| 4. Mosaic types. |
We work on three different types of mosaics.
"Freestyle"
The mosaic of this type starts with one fragment sent by one of the members. Other artists draw what ever they want to continue it. The more original fragments are, the better we like them. But please, when you send us the new fragment for "Freestyle" mosaic, don't forget that it mustn't spoil the whole composition.
"Sketch"
One of the artists creates a sketch, and all the others color it. But don't think that it's too simple. Though at the beginning you'll have a base for your fragment, you'll have to do your best to meet with staff's approval. We will accept only really high-quality fragments.
"Pixel Art"
This type of mosaic is almost the same as "Freestyle". The only difference between these two types, is that in "Pixel Art" mosaic you'll have to create your fragment pixel by pixel. Fragments for "Pixel Art" shouldn't have any smooth lines, vectors or gradients on it.

| 5. Reserving the fragment-place. |
This option is only available for existing members. ( read article 1 ) If you're not in the member list yet, you can't use this option.

| 6. Starting the new mosaic. |
This option is only available for existing members ( read article 1 ) or specially invited artists.

| 7. The mosaic is done. So? |
You will always be able to see the outcome of your collective hard work, because all the finished mosaics stay in our online museum forever. We also create a 1280*960 image out of the finished mosaic, where we list all the artists who participated in the process of creating it. Then we upload it to desktopart.deviantart.com and wallpapers[ru] forum, where you'll always be able to comment on it and see the comments of other people.

| 8. Author's status. |
Author's status is being set by desktopART administration.
To get the higher status you have to do your best to develop our art-group. Send us more original and high-quality fragments.

| 9. What is author's rating and how is it being formed? |
First of all, remember, that member's rating doesn't show his/her skills. It shows only his/her activity. Member earns points for every new fragment that he/she sends. Here is the table of points:
Fragment that starts the new mosaic: 10 points;
Fragment that starts the new "sketch" mosaic: 20 points;
Fragment that joins one already existing fragment: 12 points;
Fragment that joins two already existing fragments: 14 points;
Fragment that joins three already existing fragments: 16 points;
Fragment that joins four already existing fragments: 18 points;
The last fragment for the mosaic: 20 points;
The more already existing fragment your one is going to join, the more points you will get. As simple as that.

| 10. Awards and ways of getting them. |
There are two types of awards:
"Originality" award - this award is being given by our administrator, if he finds your fragment very original, and if your fragment changes the whole idea of the mosaic.
"The Last Fragment" award - if the fragment finishes the mosaic, it gets this award. Nothing special but some extra points.

| 11. What is "Art-Pack"? |
It's almost the same as ordinary "Freestyle" mosaic. But! Every fragment you send us must be the part of already existing artwork. Aside from fragment , you must send us the original artwork, where you took the fragment from. Artwork must be also drawn by you!
All the requirements here stay the same. Your fragment must perfectly join some of already existing ones.
We automatically start a new art-pack, just after the previous one is finished.

| 12. What is "Action"? |
All the non-mosaic projects that we run on desktopART are called actions. Every action has a description and special rules. You can participate in every action even if you're not an existing member.
